Mr. Tartak said that he was happy with the result, but above all the sellers and also the buyers looked like a strong spring market that were looking for many buyers because of the recent interest rates.

An inner southern building broke the Redfern record for an apartment with one bedroom, which was sold 1.67 m.

The house in Marriott Street 1/99 had a reserve of 1.3 m.

“It was one of the best auctions I saw all year round,” said Cadan Hickey of Ray White Touma Taylor.

Mr. Hickey said that the previous apartment record of one bedroom was sold about two years ago in the suburb for a price of 1.56 m.

A slow start on an inner West auction ended successfully, with the property sold for $ 150,000 on the $ 2.25 million reserve.

With four active bidders, the opening bid in 41 Moncur Street, Marrickville started 2m, close to the 2.1 m guide.

Led by auctioneer Clarence White by Merck White Auctioneers, the start was dominated by a back and forth between the two starting bidders with several $ 50,000 bids, which fell to $ 10,000 bids for the latter.

Two fresh competitions participated in the bid around 2.27m marking, but the auction was eventually called to the bidder who was introduced in second.

“There is a strategy for buyers, most buyers don’t like to start at the auction,” said chief agent Marco Errichiello, of Rich & Olivia.

Errichiello said it was a perfect result in a strong market that was clear by the number of people who appeared.

“It’s above reserve, the competition was there and there were five registered parties,” he said.

“The market is absolutely strong, this is an example of, it is a house that needs work and it has achieved 2.4 m, which is more than what the owner expected.

“It’s a great start to the spring market.”

The buyers, who wanted to stay anonymous, said what brought them at the auction was the location.

“We really love the area,” they said.

“Inner West is just the place where we are quite determined to be.”

They said there was no real strategy and it was only the second auction they had offered.

“We just went for it,” they said.

“I told my wife yesterday, there is this thing called Locus of Control, there are things that have you control and there are things that are outside of your control.

“And you can only do what is under your control.”

After sold their house in Alexandria after five years around January, they were very happy with the new house and look forward to their weekends back.

“Surrealistic, it doesn’t really feel at all,” they said.

“We are on the market for eight months and are pretty tired to be honest.

“(Inspections) every Saturday before the last eight months.

“That is probably the majority, just our lives back.”

The sellers, who bought the house for $ 890,000 ten years ago, said it was a great result.

“We originally bought to move here, but our support base is further west, so we got closer,” they said.

They were also satisfied with the growth, “a big leap,” they said.

“Really satisfied with the result, we have followed Marrickville, of course since it has been on the market.

“It’s a great location and great for families.”
