NASHUA, NH (WHDH) – A large fire engulfed two buildings in Nashua, one commercial and one residential, Tuesday morning.
Flames were seen shooting out of the Vine Street location, causing heavy smoke.
Officials said the fire started around 6:30 a.m. and firefighters were still actively extinguishing the blaze as of 9 a.m.
Several fire companies joined the Nashua Fire Department on scene to extinguish the flames, including from Manchester, Lowell and Hudson.
“Wild, I can’t believe this happened,” said Jesse Rutstein, a local resident.
Several people were taken to hospital.
“I got a text from my family this morning saying my parents’ house is on fire,” Mariah McCarthy said. “My stepbrother and my grandparents live here… They’re all in the hospital. They’re safe and sound. My grandparents seem fine. My brother is sad because two cats live here and they’re nowhere to be seen.”
Nashua Fire Chief Steve Buxton said the fire forced many families out of their homes and into the frigid weather.
