Fire engulfs two coaches of Tatanagar-Ernakulam express train near Andhra Pradesh

A fire accident took place in two coaches of train No. 18189 Tatanagar-Ernakulam Junction Super Fast Express, in the early hours of Monday (December 29, 2025) near Yelamanchili Railway Station in Anakapalli district of Andhra Pradesh.

According to South Central Railway officials, coaches B-1 and M-2 were engulfed in fire and severely damaged, but fortunately there were no casualties. However, unconfirmed sources say one person was charred.

According to the railway officials, the fire accident took place in the train around 1.11 am. When the officials present discovered the fire, they immediately alerted the fire brigade. A few firefighters immediately arrived on the scene and were seen extinguishing the fire until the last reports came in. Officials also stated that initial reports indicated that there had been no casualties, but that both carriages had been gutted.

Senior railway officials have reached the spot and are monitoring the operation. Both carriages have been detached from the train.

A senior official at the scene said the fire was massive and further investigations are underway to determine if there were any casualties and to determine the cause of the fire.
