Final 2026 Concorde Agreement signed, enabling FIA investment in F1 governance | RACER

The 2026 Concorde Governance Agreement has been signed by the FIA, Formula 1 and its eleven teams, allowing further investment in race regulation, race management, stewarding and technical expertise.

The Commercial Concorde Agreement between F1 and the teams was announced earlier this year, and together the two commitments form the overall Concorde Agreement which sets out the regulatory framework, commercial and governance terms for the sport until 2030. As part of what was described as ‘robust discussions’, the percentage of revenue allocated to the FIA has been agreed, with the aim of continually developing the sport, which F1 says currently has ‘unprecedented momentum’.

“The ninth Concorde Agreement secures the long-term future of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship and I am proud of the dedication invested in this process,” said FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem.

“I would like to thank Stefano Domenicali and his team for the strong partnership, building a framework based on fairness, stability and shared ambition. This agreement allows us to continue modernizing our regulatory, technological and operational capabilities, including supporting our race directors, officials and the thousands of volunteers whose expertise underpins each race.

“We will ensure Formula 1 remains at the forefront of technological innovation and sets new standards in global sport.”

In line with Ben Sulayem’s comments, a press release announcing the agreement said it “will enable the FIA to further invest in improved race regulation, race direction, stewarding and technical expertise for the benefit of the championship, and means the sport can continue to evolve, delivering exciting technological innovation and sporting action for fans, broadcasters and partners, all within a stable and structured regulatory framework.”

F1 president and CEO Domenicali says the collaborative approach from all stakeholders has given the sport a strong foundation from which to develop as it enters an era of new regulations and the addition of Cadillac to the grid.

“Today is an important day for Formula 1,” said Domenicali. “As we celebrate 75 years of this incredible sport, we are proud to write the next chapter in our long and amazing history. This agreement ensures Formula 1 is in the best possible position to continue to grow around the world.”

“I would like to thank FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem and all the teams for their cooperation and determination to achieve the best results for the whole sport in our discussions. We have a huge amount to be proud of, but we are also focused on the opportunities and exciting potential for Formula 1 in the years to come.”
