Utrecht, February 9, 2026 – From March 1, almost 2.5 million entrepreneurs will file tax returns again. You too? And do you want to file a tax return smoothly and quickly? Use the Tax Authorities’ tax return checklist for entrepreneurs. You can find the tax return checklist at Belastingdienst.nl/ondernemersaangifte. We highlight a few points of interest from the checklist.

Check whether you are an entrepreneur for income tax purposes
The tax return checklist contains everything you need to file tax returns smoothly from March 1. The first point of attention? Check whether you are an entrepreneur for income tax purposes. Because that has consequences for how you file a tax return. If you are registered with the Chamber of Commerce, you are not automatically an entrepreneur for income tax purposes. You must then meet a number of conditions. You can check this with the OndernemersCheck Belastingdienst.nl/ondernemerscheck. Complete it to quickly check whether you should enter your income as ‘Profit from business’ or as ‘Income from other work’.

The data you need
Are you an entrepreneur for income tax purposes? Then check which information you need to collect for your tax return. Consider the profit and loss account and the balance sheet. You can find exactly what you need in the tax return checklist Belastingdienst.nl/ondernemersaangifte.

Are you not an entrepreneur for income tax purposes, but do you have income from other work? You must also declare the money you earn from this in your tax return. You may deduct some costs you incur. You will find out what those costs are here.
