Retailers pack their Father’s Day chocolate ranges with record levels of sugar and calories – that fathers run the risk of a large number of health problems.
An analysis showed that some bars and treats with paternity theme include almost a week of sugar in one item.
Critics and nutritionists have destroyed the use of ‘humor’ and ‘oversized packaging’ to direct men with products that form ‘real health risks’.
As part of their Father’s Day Range, Morrisons offers a 360-gram Toblerone Milk Chocolate Bar that packs a disturbing 216 grams of sugar or the equivalent of 54 teaspoons of sugar, plus an amazing 1,822 calories.
NHS experts say that the average adult should not consume more than 30 grams of sugar per day or seven teaspoons – plus a maximum of 2500 calories for a man.
Diets with a high sugar lead to too many calories, which leads to weight gain, while being overweight increases your risk of heart problems such as heart disease, some cancers and type 2 diabetes.
And similar levels of sugar were found in treats of rival chains.

Paul Evans, registered nutritionist at the nutritionist UK, said: ‘The levels of sugar that are packed in these so-called’ Father’s Day treats’ are not only exaggerated.
‘We are talking about individual products with almost a week in sugar, sold under the guise of a novelty gift.
‘This is pampered to the point of absurdity. There is a worrying trend in how food brands focus on men – using humor, oversized packaging and ‘treat culture’ to hide the fact that these products form very real health risks’
Elsewhere, Tesco sells its own Toblerone theme tract designed to give Dad’s waist a mistreatment.
The 400-gram toblerone small milk, white and dark chocolate bars contains a tooth decay that causes 163 grams of sugar or the same as 40 teaspoons of sugar.
That is almost six days on the white things.

The 35 Toblerone tracts per bag specials also include an eye-watery 1,476 calories.
Tesco said: “From care kits to books, we offer a large number of affordable products in the store and online to help families celebrate Father’s Day this year.”
Mondelez International, makers of Toblerone, added: ‘These products are intended as an incidental treat and are clearly labeled to ensure that they can be consumed as part of a healthy and balanced diet.
‘We offer a wide range of different products and sizes that meet the varied needs of our consumers, who have any nutritional information about Pack.
