- Danielle Hunter offsets his recent quiet streak with a huge performance: Hunter finally got a more favorable matchup and performed in a big way this week with a 3.5 sack game.
- C.J. Gardner-Johnson performs again in his new role: Working as Dennis Allen’s new primary slot defender, Gardner-Johnson picked up two sacks this week while leading the team in tackles thanks to his profitable IDP effort.

Takeaways from week 10
Exemption thread
- L.B Cody Simon, Arizona Cardinals: A returning name from last week, but one with an expanded role, as Simon not only just earned a starting opportunity with Mack Wilson out of the lineup, but he wore the green dot as the team’s lone all-down linebacker. If Wilson misses any more time, Simon could be considered a starting IDP option in a wider range of IDP league formats.
- L.B Claudin Cherelus, Carolina Panthers: Cherelus replaced the injured Wallace and would likely continue to do so if Wallace’s shoulder injury caused him to miss more time. Cherelus likely wouldn’t be a full-time option if Wallace were to miss time, so he should only be considered a deep-league option at this point.
- L.B Noah Sewel, Chicago bears: With TJ Edwards unable to suit up this week, Sewell once again stepped into a starting role and will continue to do so while Edwards is out of the lineup.
- L.B Francisco Mauigoa, Jets from New York: Mauigoa should be the expected LB2 once he returns to the lineup following news of Quincy Williams’ benching. Mauigoa should be back in the lineup in Week 11 after clearing the concussion protocol, and after a good game from Williams, he will only be a speculative addition for now.
- D.T Tershawn Wharton, Carolina Panthers: Wharton’s playing time and production over the past few games should have him under consideration as a weekly IDP starter in DT-required formats at this point. Wharton has taken over a starting role, averaging 84% of defensive plays over the past three games, leading to 18 tackles and a sack in that span.

- Rookie watch: Both Jalon Walker and James Pearce Jr. each delivered a sack and a forced fumble this week, as both first-round picks have started to make an impact here in recent weeks, which is a promising sign for IDP.

| Josh Woods | 16.9% | 21.7% | 38.5% | 5 |
- Interesting point: Ronnie Harrison and JD Bertrand re-split the team’s LB2 duties this week, and while Harrison had a very productive IDP performance, he shouldn’t be an option outside of the deeper IDP leagues unless he takes a clear lead over Bertrand and can consistently crack 65% of the snaps.

| Jessie Bates III | 100.0% | 0.0% | 1.3% | 41.6% | 45.5% | 11.7% |
| Xavier Watts | 100.0% | 1.3% | 0.0% | 51.9% | 29.9% | 18.2% |
- Interesting point: Xavier Watts and Jessie Bates dominated the team’s tackle share this week, combining for 20 tackles, while Bates added an interception. Using both players remains ideal for IDP purposes and should remain weekly IDP options.
Cornerback
- Injury: Dee Alford suffered a concussion in the first quarter of this game and did not return. Alford played more wide corner this week with rookie nickel Billy Bowman Jr. back in the lineup.
