QUARTER

Jacoby Brissett, Arizona Cardinals (Recorded in 46.5% of leagues on ESPN)

  • Competition size: 10
  • Time frame: Week 13, Long Term

Brissett has been an excellent fantasy asset since becoming the Cardinals’ starting quarterback, scoring at least 18 fantasy points in each of his past six games. No other quarterback has an active streak longer than three games. Brissett’s roster share is increasing every week, but he is still available in many leagues.

The Cardinals play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next week and they have allowed the eighth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. Brissett’s recent strong play and good matchup make him the best waiver wire option for anyone in need of a quarterback this week. The Cardinals’ schedule is tough after that until the fantasy championship round, when they take on the Cincinnati Bengals. Yet Brissett could also be the best option in those weeks.

Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars (28.7%)

  • Competition size: 10
  • Timeframe: Long term

The Jaguars have been without top wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. in recent weeks. and Travis Hunter, but that hasn’t slowed Lawrence down. He has scored at least 16 fantasy points in six of his past seven games. The Jaguars’ schedule during that period wasn’t always favorable, but they passed often. This past week, Lawrence completed 18 of 30 passes for 256 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions.

The former No. 1 overall pick has averaged 17.7 fantasy points since Week 6, which ranks 14th among quarterbacks with at least three games played, making Lawrence a borderline fantasy starter. He has performed the best among those available on the waiver wire, aside from Brissett and Joe Flacco, who will likely lose his playing job to Joe Burrow this week. No other available starting quarterback is averaging more than 15.0 fantasy points.

Jacksonville’s schedule the rest of the way is fine, with games against the Tennessee Titans, Indianapolis Colts twice, New York Jets and Denver Broncos. The gap between how Lawrence stacks up against the other quarterbacks outside of Brissett is wide enough to offset any concerns about the schedule.
