Fans of Timberwolves can only laugh at this ridiculous trade idea

Many of their out of season have been conversations from both fans and experts around the point watch situation of the Minnesota Timberwolves. Mike Conley turns 38 years old in two months. Rob Dillingham, selected as eighth General in 2024, saw uneven playing time as a Rookie and was completely out of rotation after the season.

There are some fans who want to see the wolves upgrade in the position. Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report came with a trade in four teams That would see Minnesota acquire a new Point Guard.

Trade concerns wolves that handle Dillingham

The four Pincus teams involved in his trade idea are the Timberwolves, Magic, Hawks and Jazz. The details of that trade are as follows:

“Receive Timberwolves:
Anthony Black

Hawks received:
Rob Dillingham
2031 Second round Pick from Timberwolves
$ 4.5 million trade exceptions

Receive jazz:
Kobe Bufkin
Bones Hyland
$ 1.1 million of magic

Received magic:
2026 Protected first round pick from Hawks
2028 Second round pick from Jazz
$ 8 million trade exception

Eric Pincus

So Minnesota would free itself from Dillingham, Hyland (currently not signed, would be treated in a drawing and trade) and a pick from the second round of 2031.

The acquisition of black, estimated by pincus, would improve the wolves at Point Guard. The sixth general choice in the NBA design of 2023, Black is a larger Point Guard (mentioned on 6-foot-7). Last season he had an average of 9.4 points, 2.9 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.6 blocks in 24.2 minutes.

Black has struggled with his shooting out

Drawn up within a year in succession, Black is essentially a year older than Dillingham. The current guard of Orlando will be 22 on January 20, while the second-year Minnesota guard on January 4 will be 21.

Although the averages certainly prefer Black last season, that also comes with more playing time. On an average of 14.0 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.6 assists per 36 minutes. Compare that with Dillingham’s average averages of 15.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 6.8 assists, and they are fairly comparable to Dillingham that distributes more.

Although Dillingham did not shot the three-ball so well (33.8%), it came in a somewhat small sample size of 74 attempts. He committed himself to 44.4% of his 144 three-point attempts during his one year in Kentucky. Black shot 30.1% from outside the bow in Arkansas and is at 34.3% in two years with the magic. He is only 2-15 from a three-point area in seven play-off games.

Now with the big advantage, Black is the better defensive player. However, Dillingham’s attacking ceiling seems to be fairly higher than that of Black.

Although it is nice to come up with hypothetical transactions, this is one that should reject Minnesota if they have to be brought to their attention without much thought. Give Dillingham some run, because he played better in the six games last season that he saw more than 20 minutes.

Also doesn’t feel like magic

Let’s end by saying that this deal is also not really looking forward to the position of the magic. They would give up Black, who is expected to be in their rotation, and not receive a player back for the coming season.

In a wide open Eastern Conference, even more because of Jayson Tatum and Tyrese Haliburton injuries, it does not seem like the type of trade that Orlando should make.
