Batavia, NY — On an evening when the weather conditions could only be described as unpleasant, Face The Shadows (Shadow play) made her one move count when she won the recommended $9,000 Class A-AA pace for harness racing mares and fillies at Batavia Downs on Wednesday evening (Nov. 5).
When the gate released the girls across the track that was judged “sloppy”, the field moved forward single file with Major Megan (Jim McNeight Jr.) leading the way while Face The Shadows (Kevin Cummings) came in third. After the group reached the quarter in:29 and the half in:59.2, Face The Shadows was put into play first on turn three and ended up three-quarters behind Major Megan. As they rounded the final corner, Face The Shadows slowly moved forward and at the top of the track she was safely in the lead. Face The Shadows then headed to the line holding off both Major Megan and Rightfully Mine by 2-¼ lengths to win in 1:58.
