Antonio Conte could not contain his joy after seeing his Napoli side secure a 2-1 victory over Juventus on Sunday, a performance he described as ‘extraordinary’.
Rasmus Hojlund proved the match winner with a decisive brace, scoring in each half to put Napoli one point ahead of Inter at the top of Serie A.
Napoli got off to a dream start at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona when Hojlund slotted David Neres’ low center into the net, but Kenan Yildiz restored parity just before the hour mark.
The hosts dug deep and their perseverance was rewarded twelve minutes from time, with Hojlund rising highest to plant a header beyond the reach of Michele Di Gregorio.
Napoli is only the second team after Inter to win seven home games in a row against Juventus in Serie A (eight between 1935 and 1943).
And Conte was full of gratitude when asked to put into words Napoli’s performance, telling DAZN Italia: “The players deserve all the compliments.
“We can only thank them because in a moment of extreme difficulty and with so few people available, we are doing incredible things.
“Everyone who plays performs with great character and a sense of responsibility.
“These guys have improved so much, and it fills me with pride, because they felt what we were doing, understood the difficulty of the moment and gave remarkable answers.
“In the difficulties we find solutions and I want to give credit to my staff and the players. You feel the right spirit, unity and the desire to stay together in this difficult moment.”
“We have to find the right path and stick to it. I can only thank these guys, thank you, thank you again.”

The victory means that Napoli remains unbeaten in Serie A for the entire calendar year for the first time since 1987 (W13 D4).
The Partenopei are indeed the only team (excluding promoted teams) that will not lose a home game in the top five European competitions in 2025.
“Every match has different phases, and if we can press high then we must do so because we avoid sitting deep and losing our reference points,” Conte added.
“I believe that defending by going forward ultimately avoids risks, as there were only two shots on target from Juve today.
“We had a lot of energy and tactical accuracy, but also some impressive moves that we prepared on the training field.”
However, Conte acknowledged the quality of opponents his side have faced in the competition so far, adding.
“We played against Atalanta, Roma and Juventus, all very strong opponents, in an emergency situation and won them all,” said the Italian.
“I remain amazed by the enthusiasm and energy the boys put into the game.
“Now we have to rest, because we still have two days and then we are in Portugal against Benfica in the Champions League.
“We have to try to prepare it as best we can for the whiteboard because these guys need a break physically to recover.”
