The buyers loved the charm of the old house with its high ceilings and large rooms.
They also liked the view of the harbor.
Agent of the prominent buyer Simon Cohen represented the buyer, but he had no comment on contact. Other sources said that the buyer was an expat who currently lived abroad.
There had been speculation in other media that the buyer was Media -Mogul Lachlan Murdoch, who lives in the neighborhood, but the sources said he was not the successful buyer.
When he was asked to explain why the house went so far above the buyer guide, Zoellner said:
“This house is so unique, in a style that the buyers of something like … it has the elegance of a older style house, with high ceilings, views and large rooms.
“There were 19 registered bidders and it was super active.
“It was a private auction and only registered buyers could be present, and the room was completely full.”
The late sellers had bought it for $ 2.3 million in 1990.
At the end it came to $ 1000 bids.
It is clear that the property was purchased in a company name.

In a death advertisement, her beloved niece, Cho-Wai Cheung,: “I always wondered about her energy when dealing with a huge house and the vast front and back gardens.

The house was once owned by a man who received one of the highest prices that can be awarded by the Pope.
It was purchased by Ulisse Pellegrini, director of the company Pellegrini and Co, and his wife, May, in 1931 for an unknown amount.
The respected company, founded in 1890 in Melbourne, offered religious stocks to Catholic churches and schools.
Pellegrini died in the Lewisham -Hospital at the age of 56 in February 1950.
According to his death report in the Sydney Morning Herald: “Mr. Pellegrini was honored with the papal knighthood of St Gregory in 1947 … Mr. Pellegrini went abroad four times and was received in a private audience in 1929 by the late Pope Pius XI.”
