Exclusive Online License Plate Auction in Punjab, December 2025

The Punjab government has started registration for its online auction of premium ‘beautiful’ number plates in December, giving vehicle owners across the province the opportunity to bid for exclusive and customized registration numbers. This initiative allows participants to secure vanity plates for motorcycles, passenger cars and commercial vehicles without visiting a physical office.

The auction will take place on a fully digital platform managed by the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB). Vehicle owners can place bids via the PITB e-Auction mobile app or the official online portal.

Participants can choose from premium categories such as gold, platinum or other custom combinations, including highly sought-after single-digit and repeat license plates. Registration will remain open until January 30, giving users plenty of time to participate in the digital auction.

PITB officials emphasized that the move to a digital auction ensures transparency, efficiency and fairness. Vehicle owners can track real-time bids, view the list of successful bidders and post their offers online, eliminating long queues and paperwork.

A spokesperson for PITB stated:

“Our goal is to make the allocation of premium license plates fully digital and accessible, giving every vehicle owner an equal opportunity to bid for beautiful license plates.”

The program includes motorcycles, passenger cars and commercial vehicles, each with its own special auction category. This system encourages participation from all vehicle owners and promotes a streamlined process for obtaining exclusive license plates.
