Former Batcoach Sanjay Bangar in India shared how Shubman Gill was impressed by everyone during his very first training session with the senior team. Gill, now the test captain of India, was only a young person when he came to the team in 2019.
Bangar remembered that the session took place with Ravi Shastri as head coach, Virat Kohli as a captain, and Mrs. Dhoni is still in the side. At the time, India prepared for the ODI World Cup 2019.
According to Bangar, Gill walked away for his first net session and played a series of shots against the Throwdown specialists.
“When we threw it up, he would ride. If it was outside, he cut it. If it was short, he pulled it. The other nets stopped and everyone looked at him,” Bangar said on Doorshan Sports.
He added that Shastri was so impressed that he wanted to set up Gill in the XI immediately.
“Coach Ravi Shastri was so impressed that he said:” Isko Abhi Khila Do “(play him now). We realized that this boy was special.”
Gill made his debut against Nieuw -Zeeland in January 2019 during the fourth ODI. He scored 9 and 7 in the two games he played during that Tour. He later confirmed his place in 2022 on the West India tour and has since grown into one of the most important players of India, even on the number 1 place in the ICC ODI ranking.
