Adrian Bott believes punters are yet to see the best of the eviction notice and says the colt will be on a mission of redemption when he lines up at Rosehill on Saturday.

Eviction Order made a strong impression in the official trials prior to his debut, sending out as a $3.30 favorite in the Breeders’ Plate, where he was in the lead before weakening and finishing far back.

The colt returns in the Group 3 Arrowfield Canonbury Stakes (1100m), where he will again meet Breeders’ Plate winner Incognito, and Bott said improvement is needed.

“He did a few things wrong with the Breeders. It may have been a little too early, but maybe the day and the opportunity got to him,” Bott said.

“He’s more rested now, but I’m sure a horse like Incognito is too. (Incognito) looks like the ultimate professional so far and was clearly very good the last time they met.”

“We’re really going to have to be at our best to bounce back.”

Bott, who trains with Gai Waterhouse, has won two of the past three editions of the Canonbury Stakes and has been chasing a tenth win in the race for the stable since 2000.

Eviction notice, a $3.80 chance at TAB and a $26 quote for the Golden Slipper, has shown improvement in two recent trials where it was ridden more conservatively.

“He tested well and it looks like he’s back in good shape,” Bott said.

‘It’s deliberate, but that’s partly because of his maturity, he understands what it’s all about.

“It’s a chance for him to redeem himself on Saturday and hopefully deliver on the promise he showed us initially and at home.

“He’s well-marked, he’s got good speed that we can use, so he definitely has some advantages.”

The Tulloch Lodge stable will also be represented in the Group 3 Widden Stakes (1100m), where Miss Chanel will look to continue the stable’s strong recent record in the race.

The stable has won the Widden three times in the last four years, with The Playwright scoring last year and Lady Of Camelot winning the 2024 race on their way to Golden Slipper’s success.

Miss Chanel finished behind Outspan at Rosehill on her debut a fortnight ago and Bott expects improvement.

“I thought she held up well and she’ll get a lot better because of it,” he said.

“She was a bit new and might not have appreciated the circumstances of the day.

“Now that she is back on a firmer track and has had the experience of racing at Rosehill, I think she can take a step forward.”

Bott also expects The Instructor to improve in the Group 3 JRA Plate (1200m) after a disappointing performance on the Gold Coast.

The five-year-old had pushed rising sprinter King’s Secret in the Canterbury Sprint prior to that run.

“Maybe that first run and the journey there, and the conditions on the day, might have made him a little crazy,” Bott said.
