Three British women are now being held in brutal prisons while they deny drug smuggling abroad and here is everything we know in any case.

Bella May Culley, 18, was the first to get the headlines after she was arrested after flying Georgia from Thailand on 11 May and depicted on national television in handcuffs. And then that was quickly followed by former TUI -stewardess Charlotte May Lee who arrived in Sri Lanka, again from Thailand, reportedly with a supply of cannabis in her luggage with a value of £ 1.2 million that she denied learned something.

Isabella Dagget, 21, is another alleged drug smule that is held in a Hellhole Dubai prison where she was unable to shower or change clothes. Her case was emphasized by her family after she was arrested in March, only five weeks after she moved to the United Arab Emirates for work.

The arrests have led to fears that naive holiday makers or expats by local gangs are the target of drugs in their luggage. All three cases seem to have in common that other people were involved and their exact roles are not yet clear.

Bella May Culley

Bella May Culley, from Billingham, County Durham, is accused of wearing approximately 14 kg cannabis and about 2 kg of hash to Georgia. Little is known about how she was caught at Tblisi airport after her family reported her missing in Thailand.

She is confronted with a long spell behind bars if they are found guilty – what life can be if she gets a serious punishment. She was regularly on social media during a dream holiday that her family said she would continue before she started studying. But the reason she traveled remains unclear, although there has been a report of a mysterious man called ‘Ross of Russ’ in the Philippines before meeting a group of young men from the northwest of England in Thailand.

Bella May, who told a court that she is pregnant, is currently being held in the only female prison in Tblisi, the notorious women’s prison no. 5 where her father Niel visited her this week and is supposed to have deposited a bag.

A new lawyer who represents the Brit, Malkhaz Salakaia, said that the teenager had asked fruit and warmer clothing. It comes after we reported last week how Dad Niel was confronted with a painful waiting time to be reunited with her.

Their first meeting would have lasted two hours. The lawyer said his client was ready to defend himself in court, the BBC reported. Salakaia said that Bella has no complaints about the location of detention. Asked if he would describe Bella as an adequate adult, he replied “no”. His impression was that she was “not far from childhood”. During the meeting, Bella reportedly also provided evidence to researchers.

Charlotte May Lee

Charlotte May Lee, 21, was arrested after the landing in Sri Lanka from Thailand last week, and is accused of having 46 kg of the medicine in her luggage. The part -time beautician from Chipstead, Surrey is currently being held in a “rotten” cell near the capital of Colombo. She had just landed from Bangkok when she was arrested on Bandaranaike Airport on 12 May and since then she has been kept in custody.

She reportedly claims that a British man of Pakistani descent she only knows through the first name then has bought her the aviation ticket. He would also have given her the suitcases that he packed while giving cash for the excess luggage costs of the airline and he said that one of the bags contained his clothing.

‘Dan’ is also supposed to have told her that Sir Lanka was a “beautiful place for a vacation” and that they would have a “great time”, but he first had to stay in Bangkok to see a friend before he came to her.

Police sources in Sri Lanka, the Mail, Said that Charlotte has changed her story several times, while she claims that she is “desperate and incredibly naive.” She apparently said she knew nothing about than – not even his last name or telephone number.

It is also claimed that she said she had never visited Sri Lanka before, but the police believe she was coming in January. “This woman is in many problems and will not help herself by not telling the truth,” said the police source. “The research has only just begun and we will look closely at her previous visit, with whom she was and where she went.”

At the moment she is in the Negombo, to the north of the capital, and she was told in court this week that she might not be convicted for 12 months, while she could get 25 years in prison in the brutal Welikada prison if she is convicted.

Isabella Daggett

Isabella Daggett, 21, from Leeds, is understood, were arrested only five weeks after he moved from Yorkshire to start a new job in the United Arab Emirates.

But her family insisted that she was taken by the police, simply because she was “in the wrong place at the wrong time” and never used drugs. And she did not take a shower or even changed her clothes in months after she was beaten in a prison in March, her family claims.

She worked for a businessman who recruits on the internet for construction sites in the UK and offered to send her to the middle -east for a similar role. But the police in Dubai would have arrested her together with another man not long after she arrived in Dubai.

Her grandmother Heather Smith told the DailyMail : “Bella is locked up because she was in the wrong company. Wrong place, wrong time. Wrong friend. The guy she worked for, said for her to come to Dubai, you will love it, the lifestyle is great. Now she is locked up. But she is innocent because she has done all the tests and there was nothing in her system.”

Exactly which charges Mrs. Daggett faces have not been made public. Mrs. Smith said: “She was arrested with a boy who was not her boyfriend, with whom she stayed because things had fallen with another house. She didn’t like him so much. He can be guilty of something, but she’s not.
