Everton has signed goalkeeper Tom King from Wolves to offer extra experienced coverage for Jordan Pickford, after he had lost both Jao Virginia and Asmir Gemovic in the summer.
The 30-year-old keeper did the rounds of lower League clubs while building his career in Millwall, Newport County, Salford City and Northhampton Town before spending the past two seasons in Wolves, where he made his Premier League debut against Brentford last May, his only game in the top flight.
While he was in Milwall for 5 seasons, he was lent to Welling United, Braintree Town, Stevenage and Wimbledon. He got the most performances for Salford City. In 64 games between 2021 and 2023 he held 26 clean sheets for the Manchester -based outfit.
King will be the seventh signing of the summer for the Toffees, who had previously brought in Mark Travers from Bournemouth to offer Jordan Pickford in goal to Jordan Pickford. This may mean that the future will be away from Everton for Harry Tyrer, either by loan or transfer.

A goalkeeper … really?
We have a right back, right wing player (2), central midfielder and an experienced striker too!

We make a few excellent signing sessions and then sharpen things to a halt. Typical Everton Dithering.
Pay the Dibbling -money! This costs the American league places and therefore millions of pounds. False economy as usual.

More goalkeepers to sit on the couch?
Brilliant!!!

Colin, we don’t need three keepers?
Simon, two important signing sessions in 7 days (and one small one) is how you define “Snicking things to a halt”??? I think you have locked up a strange post of the day and it is only dinner time.

Good to see that the recruitment team keeps an eye on the problems in the first XI …

Well said everyone.
We bought a keeper, why do we need another one ??? Our Academy Keepers (U21) must really be discouraged. We have at least 3 of them. There was one called Pickford (no relationship), I don’t know what happened to him.
Typical Everton. Do not fill the desperately needed positions. But waste money that we just don’t need. And if I’m right, there is an exemption in the rules for keepers. So if Pickford has an injury in the long term, the club can borrow one on top of the team they have.
Bloody Pay for Dibling and some defenders right and left back. Muppets!

Mike,
We probably need 3 goalkeepers (1 to sit on the couch), but we shout for a right back and a right winger.
Many of us are frustrated because this has been a problem for years and apparently not resolved.
We should have started.

Colin, I am sure that two problems are being worked on, and remember that it has not been a problem for this recruitment team for years.
Regarding Begovic, apparently Moyes shares my opinion about him … not good enough to count. I used to call him bungles begovic, although I will easily admit that he did well with us.
Martin, George Pickford is only 17, so I don’t think he had time to be disappointed. And with regard to the possible heir of Jordan, do you think Tyrer would rather have a loan back to League One, where he played 38 excellent matches last season, or was sitting on the couch and watching Pickford?
As Jack says, the signing of King is Tyrer’s ticket for a full action season – that a young keeper desperately needs.

Harry Tryer needs at least a loan to a champion club. He is now about 22 and should push Pickford very quickly.
It is better for us and try, if he spends a year in the championship instead of being the 3rd choice.

Tryer will be sold, I think. He has to play elsewhere. He will not be a keeper in the first choice for a Premier League team.
Douglass Lukjanciks will be the one if one of the keepers takes it out of the academy.

What a complete waste of money.
Tyrer looked competent in the friendly in Accrington; If he returns to Blackpool on loan, I am pretty sure that he can be remembered if there was an injury crisis.
I still don’t understand why Virginia has been released.

Ian, I think Virginia was too good to waste his career on our couch. I would think he probably wanted to go.

Good things this.
Now we can have 2 keepers on the couch every week

Great, another keeper … exactly what we needed.
So they are 2 keepers on the couch on Elland Road? We certainly have no problem getting very average keepers in the line.

How much did they pay for him? Hard to understand another keeper who comes in, don’t they trust travers?

I assume Tyrer goes back on loan

3rd keeper for a PL team must be over the best job in the world. You come to the training, go home during lunch and look at the Graafschap and meaningless, you never really play, but you will probably get paid 5k a week or more. Seriously heavy life, but Tom King has to do it. I hope he deals with it.

This guy and travers will be recorded by Moyes and the recruitment team as the delivery of the 5 or 6 more replacements they promised to get.
I think that three or four new caterers have also been brought in on Finch Farm that could also be included in the figures.
Sean Kearns

Moyes saw enough of travers in a few games to say Hell no !! → me too. He hit the ball in his own head for the West Ham target FFS. He looked terrible and the fans of Boolmouth always said the same. Can King number 2 please please? And I’ve never seen him play.

Welcome to this great club Tom.

Finally, a decent beard in the team to replace Andre Gomes.

We have lost a large part of our first team from last season, have we improved the team of the players who were brought in to replace them?
DLC, Abdoulaye Doucoure, Ashley Young, Joao Virginia, Asmir Begovic, Mason Holgate and Neal Maupay, with Loanese Jack Harrison, Jesper Lindstrøm, Orel Mangala and Armando Broja is all the left now?

Welcome, Tom.
We really need you because that bank will not heat itself.

Why does the recruitment team waste its time on a sign like this?
We need a right back and a right wing as a priority.
Beto is disabled and Chermiti is simply not worth a place in the team, so an experienced striker is also needed.

Transfer Market has Tom King with a value of ÂŁ 200,000. That is 2 third of Jack’s weekly wage.
He is 30, has 1 Welsh Cap and is 1.94 million. He played for 9 teams and has no spells as a youth player at Man Utd and Crystal Palace. He made 1 Premier League performance and his most performances were for Salford – 64 games.
He played more matches in League Two than any other division / competition – 123 games. In total he played 222 games. He is very much a 3rd choice keeper. This undoubtedly means that Harry Tyrer is being sold or lent.
