Manchester United may have suffered a setback in their attempts to sign Karl Etta Eyong in January. The Cameroonian striker joined Levante from Villarreal this summer and has been on fire so far.
Etta Eyong has already scored six goals from 11 appearances this season, attracting interest from clubs across the continent.

Recent reports suggest that United are already hot on the 22-year-old’s heels, even as they face competition from Barcelona, Manchester City and Arsenal.
The United striker is having a hard time
Benjamin Sesko’s recent problems, coupled with Joshua Zirkzee’s uncertain future, could prompt United to look for attacking reinforcements in January.
The Red Devils signed the Slovenian striker this summer to take charge, but he has scored just two goals in 11 league games so far.
Meanwhile, Joshua Zirkzee has struggled to find his feet since arriving at the Theater of Dreams from Bologna in the summer of 2024. The Dutchman remains strongly linked with a return to Italy in January.
United could be tempted to look for extra cover for the number 9 position at the turn of the year, but it appears they won’t have much luck in their search for Etta Eyong.
It is unlikely that Etta Eyong will leave in the winter
Speak with Radio MarcLevante CEO Jose Danvila stressed that the young Cameroonian would not leave in the middle of the season.
“No. In fact, I am already hearing rumors about Etta Eyong. We are receiving offers for him every day. The player will not be sold,” Danvila said.
“He will not leave this winter. Mainly because our priority is to stay alive. There is no point in making an effort in the summer and then selling him in the winter. The club’s biggest asset is to stay in the first division, even if a very large amount of money comes in.”
“We will analyze the situation when the season ends. If we remain in the first division, there will be a re-evaluation of the squad. The club will continue to work with the current squad until May 17 and if a good opportunity arises in the winter transfer window, we will consider it.”
“Barca have not approached Levante about Etta Eyong, and we have not received any calls from the Premier League. We did receive a strong offer for the player, but it was rejected.”
Etta Eyong is under contract until 2029 and reportedly has a release clause of €30 million, rising to €40 million for United, City and Arsenal.
