Ethereum Foundation starts a new AI team to promote agent payments

Ethereum -developer Davide Crapis announced on Monday that the Ethereum Foundation started a new AI team called the DAI team.

The team’s mission is to “make Ethereum the preferred scheme and coordination layer for AIS and the machine economy.”

Two important areas of attention enable AI agents and robots to implement payments, coordination and governance without intermediaries and to create open, verifiable, censorship-resistant alternatives to prevent the future of AI being controlled by a few centralized entities.

Ethereum makes AI more reliable

“We believe that Ethereum can be just as useful for today’s AI developers as for the Sci-Fi Future,” said Crapis.

The strategic approach is intended to bridge the gap between AI and blockchain communities that have traditionally worked separately.

The team also wants to collaborate with protocol and ecosystem teams to coordinate protocol improvements to AI Builder -needs and innovative public goods to establish Ethereum as the optimum platform for AI.

“Ethereum makes AI more reliable, and AI makes Ethereum more useful. The more intelligent agents handle transactions, the more they need a neutral base layer for value and reputation. Ethereum benefits by becoming that layer, and AI-benefits by escaping a few centralized platforms.”

Large AI platforms are currently tightly controlled by profit-controlled technical giants such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Microsoft, Google and Meta.

The DAI team will promote the ERC-8004 stand for AI Agent Identity Verification and Trust, which is inspired by the defensive acceleration of Vitalik Buterin (D/ACC) philosophy.

The team is currently in its infancy, but acts actively as it expands.

Tom Lee Bullish on AI
