ESPN continues to spit nonsense about the pelicans in the last NBA summer prognosis

It feels like the New Orleans -Pelikans have been under a microscope for every small movement they have made or not made all summer. When Joe Dumars took over, many expected him to press the Big Red button and re -adjusted things by exchanging Zion Williamson. The opposite has happened. Dumars has remained dedicated and continues to challenge Zion to be better every day.

That’s why one ESPN article With the title: “NBA Summer Forecast 2025-26: Turnarounds, turbulent teams and the biggest questions” I completely overwhelmed me. In this article, ESPN staff were questioned about a series of questions about this upcoming NBA season. One of the questions was who would be the next superstar to request an exchange? The most common answer was Zion Williamson.

To be honest, that is zero useful for me. You mean to tell the 25-year-old who has a great relationship with his front office and is never openly dissatisfied, is it going to just figure out? I have to miss something.

The article suggests that Z can ask because the pelicans are “stuck in neutral”. The main reason why New Orleans is in neutral is that Williamson was consistently injured. Every year the Front Office has brought talent around him and he only really failed because he did not stay healthy, something he understands.

In an era in which superstars constantly ask for transactions or ask the front office, it is strange for me that Zion would be the name “experts” who would most likely ask. We have never heard real reports that he was unhappy in New Orleans or there wasn’t wanted to be there.

The timing of these ESPN results is even funnier because Joe Dumars, in a recent media appearance, said that Zion New Orleans regards at home.

It is more likely that the Pelicans decide to trade Zion than to ask for an exchange

During the low season, Dumars made movements that position the pelicans to continue if they have to trade Williamson. By expanding Herb Jones, having locked Trey Murphy and selecting two rookies in the lottery, New Orleans has a stacked young core without Williamson.

Dumars has put together the most complete team we have ever seen during the Williamson era in New Orleans. And if the Pelicans suffer a different season in 2025-26, it will be because Zion played no more than 60 games, so he has no trade requirements.

If Williamson still has an injury-based year, he could very well be traded by the Handelsdeadline of 2026, but it will not be because he has asked for a trade. Instead, it will be Joe Dumars who after 7 years decide to draw the plug from the Zion Williamson experience in New Orleans.
