Conversations about a new contract to keep the Grand Prix of the United States on the America circuit, his progress and Cota chairman Bobby Epstein says he is “optimistic” about an agreement.
This season’s edition is the penultimate race on the current contract, and Racer understands that discussions can be completed before the next month’s race, but still has to be closed.
“Conversations are going and I think we are optimistic,” said Epstein. “I have little doubt that they want to do something, but continue and we do too, so that is a pretty good starting point for a conversation. But there has been no sense of urgency to one of our goals, I don’t think and when it’s time, we will come to an agreement.”
Epstein says that no major changes have been requested by F1 when it comes to the next agreement, although hospitality options are likely to expand due to an obligation in the longer term.
“I don’t think there are really many big differences for us,” he said. “I think they would like to see an extensive Paddock club because they continue … Our clubs are all sold out this year. The Paddock Club, the Trackside, Club Si – It was incredible, the demand for hospitality.
“So I think what they would like to see is a larger paddock club and we look at creating something incredibly special that I hope that we will reveal together with a contract extension. So it would be a paddock club, in contrast to every paddock club that someone currently has. So that’s what we look at and we are very enthusiastic about it.”
This year’s race will be held on the weekend of 17-19 October and the question will remain high. Epstein said it could be the best-furnished USGP on the circuit, with the F1 film as a potential driver of more interest.
‘We can get close [to a new record] – It’s still early, “he said.” I just know that we are already in the top three. I don’t know something is missing [to beat it]But just after the pandemic there was such a structure of demand between Netflix and people had received checks from the government here and had some more money to spend. I think that’s the biggest difference. It is not the love for the sport or the demand for the sport, I would say it is the economy. “
