[Sami Bedell-Mulhern] I all had an episode ready to go out this week and we went inside to edit it and my audio went out. No audio for me. So that was nice. And you know, technology is just something and it sometimes doesn’t work the way we want. But don’t worry, the episode will eventually come true. We will set up again and get you all. But for now I am going to do a solo episode and I am excited. I didn’t do it for a while and there are a few things that have come to the fore that I just wanted to talk to you about. Anyway, so this episode will be a bit more about mindset and some kind of ways to reformulate and reconsider things, especially when we start with a busy season. It is mid -August, schedules shift. Maybe you bring children back to school. Your team schedules may shift from summer mode. We are preparing for campaigns before the end of the year and the end of the year. So you know all the things. So I just want to make sure that we continue with our best self, that we shake away and let go of a few things that don’t matter. And so this is a kind of pep talk. I did this earlier, but it was a minute ago and so I am excited to be here with you today. So before we enter into this episode, and the Peptalk, it is offered to you by a good university, we work together. The first click works together with Do Good University on a new AI top. How can you use AI to be that next team member for a fraction of the costs? So that’s what we do with you for that week and some great guest experts. So you definitely want to be on the waiting list again. You can do that online fundraising top. Com. Let’s enter the episode. You listen to the podcast of digital marketing therapy. I am your host, Sami Bedell Mulhern. Every month we dive deep into a digital marketing or fundraising strategy that you can implement in your organization. Every week you will hear from guest experts, non -profit organizations and myself about best practices, tips and resources to help you raise more money online and achieve your organizational goals. So the first thing I really want to talk to you about is perfectionism. And this has recently come in so many conversations with so many customers, where they really struggle with pressing that publication button, pushing the new version of the website, rewriting language, making communication to donors or worrying or being upset is not perfect. And I get it, but we just have to keep going. Things always evolve and always change. Now. Let me give you an example. You know, we have a friend of ours who sent an e -mail with the wrong link to a repeat of one of his webinars he did. And you know, I spoke to him on the phone and he is so of ugh, this is so frustrating. And I get it. It sucks when things like that happen. Such things happen. I have typos all the time in my e -mail. But I said, take this as a chance. Pulpy the e -mail with the new link and you stand for new people and you stand for more people. But what happened was that he was flooded with people before he did, saying, hey, the link doesn’t work. I want the link. The link does not work. So what does that do? Number one, it allows him to have a conversation with all those people to say, oh no, I’m so sorry. Here the new let me know. Such as, just open the doors for communication. It also shows that people are really interested in the content he shares and that validates. And people will not get angry with it. They will not be upset. He too, and I, he will not mind that I share this. Also recently sent an e -mail where the head was wrong. And again, a lot of reactions from people who say, hey, did you know that there is a typo here and it is crazy and it is dirty, whatever. But people are not going to judge you here and there for a typo or a miss a missed link, people. It always happens. Instead, we want a kind of resetting our mind frame to say, okay, this is an opportunity for me now to have a conversation. I know these people read my e -mails. I know these people are fascinating. So these are people with whom I want to make contact. So in imitation it is the same on social media when people with a negative comment or a negative explanation come. It is an opportunity for you to carry out a conversation and explain a little and share what you do. It is not a bad thing, but we only have to give ourselves 30 seconds to go, ugh, feel dirty, be upset and then we just continue. We continue with our day and we keep doing our thing. It’s all great. And I think the other that we really have to remember is that one comment or that one person who reacts with something negative can give us the feeling that everyone can give us the feeling that everyone thinks we are doing badly. And that’s just not the case. You know you’re doing great. You know that you do the best you can and that kick your ass. So just keep doing what you do. We can’t make everyone happy and that’s okay. So again, use it as an opportunity. What could I have done better? How can I, you know, with which ways you would like to be communicated? How else can I deal with you? Use it as an opportunity to make it about them and to ask how you can support them. They will love that. It is a great way to simply build deeper relationships with the people in your network. Okay, so that’s one of the things I wanted to talk about. The other thing I wanted to talk about is a mindset about creativity and branding and cooperation. Now, if you are a Swiftie, or even if you are not, it is probably everywhere on your social media that launched her new album. Here is the thing that is magical and whether her PR team was behind it or not, they may have worked with specific employees to give them. But your feeds on a few days ago were probably all covered with brands that posted orange glitter stations or change their branding or something in honor of Taylor Swift. Now she is a powerhouse. I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone who was able to get something like that with so many brands. But as soon as a number of brands started, you know that the rest wants to be, right? So it is that connection, that emotional bond and understanding that the brands want to do, because there are enough Taylor Swift fans that it will also give a lift if they support her. Now we are not all billionaires with huge teams with huge followers who sell everywhere in arenas, right? So how do we scale this kind of thinking process in our own piece of the world? So remember that collaborations are a great way for you to connect and a great way for you to build trust. So think in your local community when you are getting ready to launch an event or get ready to launch a campaign, who are the partners you can go to who help you a little to go, not quote, viral. Viral does not have to be millions of people. Think about it. Within your public size, viral 100 people can be, viral can be 10 people. Just depends on what you are trying to achieve. And make it easy for them. Let them know, hey, this is what we do. Here is the branding, here is the Canva image that you can share, share it on this day. Here is the language. Do you want to help us defend this thing and one day to have a big push? Think about how you can get creative and be busy with your local community in a joint effort. Because that is really the most important thing. You know, she not only throws things away, she sometimes plants years in advance. So how can you focus your opinion on how can we make this bigger? Not only by talking to people, which really helps, but also how can we build momentum, involvement and excitement by other employees, other influencers, other partners of us in a joint marketing push? So you are not only that you do it, but again, remember, you must be specific. Here the image is because the thing that is beautiful is every time you browse through and you see that, you know that Taylor Swift is, you see the orange, you know that Taylor Swift is, regardless of the brand. So think about that. So if you have all these sponsors, Hey, we want you to post all on Open Registration Day of Opening Day for our ticket sales. We want you all to post this image with what you can manipulate it the way you want, but this is the color scheme, this is the thing. And make sure our logo goes on it, so that when people see it in several places, they all bind it to your organization and your event. So just a way to think about how we can use our network in a way to help us what they really don’t need much work to do a lot of work. And if they already donate, if they already sponsor, they are already part of your non -profit community. It is a great way for them to also support you without spending extra money. It is only a little bit of time and if you feed them everything, they will say yes, they will let it happen, they will get it done. So that is a kind of second that I wanted to talk to you about mindset in terms of mindset. And finally, I just want to say, always go back to the foundation. If it goes crazy and we try a lot of different things, things don’t work. We lose momentum here. We never get a momentum here. Someone said to do this, someone reminds that he went back to the foundation. What are the things you know you have to do? The small steps we take today will produce great results in the future and we have to play the long game. If we consistently do the things that we know we have to do, if we consistently follow donors, we consistently cover them. We consistently have 10 phone calls with new people every week. We consistently post on one social media platform. We consistently publish a blog, whatever it is. The fundamental things that you know must do you send an e -mail every week. Keep doing those things and know that the momentum is building, even if you don’t feel it now. And if you keep doing it, it will pay great dividends in the future. And I understand that there are times when that urgency is more important and feels bigger, but you still have to keep doing those fundamental things, because that is what will help you out of the hamster wheel in the future. So if you feel burned out if you feel that you are struggling, if you feel that you can’t do it all, just take deep breath and work on your agenda and say: okay, I will block 30 minutes a day and that is when I do these consistent things. You know, I’m going to build on time to do these things I have to do. This is a season in which I find myself. This is not how it will always be, right? Especially when we go in the annual campaign. So just keep that in mind, stay focused on the price, let the comparison game fall, just do the fundamental things that you know they will work and maintain your organization in the long term. Okay, so that’s my short and sweet little mindset. I hope you liked it. I would like it if you go to this video on YouTube with Digital Marketing Therapy and the reactions a motivating expression or something that you do can drop a confirmation from someone else who can help someone else. I would like to see it and make contact there. But whatever you do, subscribe wherever you listen and make sure you look at the show notes at the first Click.net315 I am happy that you have been hung around with me for this solo episode. We will be back next week with some more interviews, but for now thank you very much for listening and I see you in the next one.
