I have usually spent long -term journeys for the last few days, but the only difficult day was Friday. This is pleasant. I have discovered that as long as I don’t do a tough day with intervals, recovery is great, I feel good by the next day. This is what my training looked like since my last post:
“E” means a sturdy long ride, “uh” means upper body hard day, and “LH” means hard day of the upper body. On “uh” days I did arm-cycling and training with resistance tires for 50 minutes, plus a number of body weight “core” training. The rest was easy to cycle. I was swept away a bit on Saturday after Friday’s hard ride, so it was nice to go easy on Saturday, and I had recovered well on Sunday (yesterday). I will continue for a month and decide how to continue afterwards.

This training violates classic basic training protocols such as Dr. Phil Maffetone of Arthur Lydiard, who recommended to avoid anaerobic efforts during basic training. They believe that the anaerobic activity will actually disrupt the physiological improvements of the aerobic training. More recent authors are less adamant than that, but only recommend cutting the anaerobic activity during the basic period. Athletes who follow both Mafetone and Lydiard have had a huge success, so I didn’t want the rejection to be lightly. So I investigated this with the help of Google’s Gemini Ai in the “Deep Research” mode. I asked this question: “In practice physiology, the linear periodized approach recommends a long period of basic training in which exclusive aerobic training is carried out (for example, the first lactate threshold). Some authors such as Lydiard and Maffeton suggest that an anaerobic report will interfere with the aerobic period the examination period the examination period generated is here. I also generated a verbal podcast summary of that report here. The latest science seems to support in doing a small amount of anaerobic work to maintain your “high -end” during the basic period. Based on this, I am more confident to continue my current schedule.
