Some of England’s hottest young talents will take to the big stage after being given wildcards for the WTT Star Contender London.
Jakub Piwowar, Larry Trumpuskas, Abraham Sellado, Kacper Piwowar and Max Radiven have received wildcards for the qualifying rounds of the men’s singles.
They will be joined there by seasoned campaigners David McBeath and Andrew Baggaley, plus young seniors Joseph Hunter, Louis Price and Felix Thomis.
Tom Jarvis, Sam Walker, Connor Green and Paul Drinkhall have all been elevated to the main draw as wildcards from the qualifying rounds.
In women’s singles Anna Green will receive a wildcard into the qualifying stage, while Tin-Tin Ho and Tianer Yu will be promoted to the main draw.
Sophie Earley, Ella Pashley, Jasmin Wong, Mari Baldwin and Sienna Jetha were already confirmed in the qualifying phase.
The qualifying rounds are on Tuesday 21 and Wednesday 22 October at the Copper Box Arena, with the main event starting on Thursday 23 October.
In addition to English athletes, a number of international stars have also received a wildcard.
In the men’s singles, Japan’s Mizuki Oikawa (WR 53) is in the main draw, while Doniyor Makhamov from Uzbekistan and Romanian Hunor Szocs secure a place in the qualification.
In women’s singles, Japan’s Miyu Nagasaki (WR 14) joins several of her highly ranked compatriots in the main draw, while Denmark’s Mille Stoffregen receives a wildcard into qualifying.
What about the doubles matches?
We already know that GB star Anna Hursey will team up with Romanian European No.1 Bernadette Szocs in the women’s doubles, with the pair having risen to the main draw thanks to a wildcard.
Ho & Earley receive a wildcard into the main draw, while South Korea’s Yoo Siwoo & Lee Zion are in the qualifying rounds.
With regular Mixed Double partner Liam Pitchford injured, Hursey will partner Paul Drinkhall. The pair have a wildcard for the main draw. Walker & Ho starts in the qualifying stage.
The men’s doubles feature Walker & Drinkhall, plus Jarvis & Green, in the main draw, with a wildcard also awarded to Portuguese duo Tiago Apolonia & Marcos Freitas.
