It has been announced that the men’s and women’s teams will travel to India and Chile to compete against the world’s best and compete in the Junior World Cups.
The men’s team travels to Chennai and Madurai for their first Junior World Cup since 2016, after failing to qualify in 2023 and being unable to travel due to the pandemic in 2021. Matches run from November 28 – December 11 with an opening pool match against the Dutch team.
The women return to a familiar location in Santiago, Chile where they finished fourth in 2023. The women’s tournament runs from December 1 to 13.
The women’s squad includes six players from the 2023 World Junior Championships and a number of others who achieved medal success at the EuroHockey Junior Championships in 2024. There are also newcomers, including Tilly Woodhead and Tilly Crampsie, who are making their debut in an international U21 tournament.
Lottie Bingham, Hannah Boss and Sofia Martin have been selected and bring their experience of competing for the senior team in the 24/25 season.
The men’s team also boasts a strong mix of experience and debuts, with 15 players having just returned from the Sultan of Johor Cup with a bronze medal.
Jonny Sturch-Hibbitt and James Carleton bring their senior experience having trained alongside the senior team for the past twelve months.
Simon Letchford, U21 Women’s Head Coach, said: “After a lengthy and rewarding block of training and preparation, I am delighted to have selected an exciting squad for the 2025 Women’s Junior World Cup in Santiago, Chile.
“The squad offers a fantastic mix of athletes with a mix of experience and previous exposure to major events. The group has senior experience with Lottie Bingham, Hannah Boss and Sofia Martin, all of whom have competed in the 2025/26 FIH Pro League, while Beth Gardens, Evie Grindal, Biba Mills and Izzy Yonge move from the squad that competed in the 2025/26 FIH Pro League earlier this year. EuroHockey U18 Championships played.
“During a very busy period in the hockey calendar, I would like to thank the clubs and universities from which the squad has been selected, and in particular their coaches, for the help, support and cooperation they have shown to give these athletes the opportunity to be as prepared as possible.”
Jon Bleby, Men’s U21 Head Coach, said: “I am proud to announce this strong squad that will compete against the best in the world at the Junior World Cup in Chennai and Madurai.
“After a rigorous selection process, we have selected a talented squad, with the selection being a testament to the player’s dedication and hard work.
“We have fifteen players who have just returned from the Sultan of Johor Cup with a bronze medal, and I know they will benefit from this experience in India.
“I would like to thank the support of the clubs, schools and universities and recognize their development of these players, and I know they will all be in the best possible shape for the start of the World Cup.”
