The National Umpiring Conference that is organized by the England Hockey Officer will return for the second year on Sunday 31 August in East Midlands Conference Center in Nottingham.
The Keynote speaker for the conference is the international rugby referee Luke Pearce who has been referred to the highest level for several years, including referee on the Rugby World Cup 2019. As one of the leading international referees of rugby, Pearce gives a deep insight into high performance.
Sports psychologist Sue Jones will also share her experiences of working at the highest level. Jones worked with the best referees in the country in the construction of the Paris Olympic Games and has a deep understanding of the psychological challenges of sports officer.
Jones will deliver a session on self -reflection and discuss how both referees and referee developers can improve self -consciousness to improve their performance.
The event will also contain interactive, video -based sessions that are presented by some of the best officials in the country. These will focus on some of the most challenging and interesting areas of referees, including:
- Positioning and movement patterns; be in the right place at the right time
- The Luchtbal; Promote safety and protect skills
- Manage players effectively; Dealing with conflicts and difficult situations
The conference is open to referees of all skills and experience levels. Whether you are new in the world of referees and want to improve your skills into referee matches in your club or university, or you are an experienced referee who makes neutral agreements, the conference is for you.
The event will be carried out in addition to the annual NPUA conference and offers the opportunity to network with some of the best officials in the country, including English representatives from the Paris Olympic Games.
The costs of the conference are £ 50 per person, with a discount of £ 5 available for EHO Gold members. This includes the presence on all sessions on the day, as well as a hot buffet lunch.
