Former India Cricket player Yograj Singh has praised fast Bowler Mohammed Siraj and the young Captain Shubman Gill for their striking versions in the recently closed Anderson-Detulkar Trophy series in England.

Siraj was the star with the ball and ended up as the best wicket tack in five tests. He picked up 23 wickets with an average of 32.43 and a success rate of 48.39. He also bowed more overs than any other bowler in the series.

His five-wicket Trek on the last day in The Oval helped India grab an exciting six-run victory, leaving the series 2-2. The latter spell delivered him from all quarters, including Yograj, who compared the intensity of Siraj with the Indian legend Kapil Dev.

“The way Mohammed Siraj Bowde, he reminded me of Kapil Dev,” Yograj said as he spoke Msn. “The way our players played, it was great to see.”

Yograj also praised the quiet and composed leadership of Shubman Gill. Gill led the test team for the first time in this series, but showed adulthood after his years.

“The captain of Shubman Gill was an adult. It didn’t seem like he was a captain for the first time,” he added.

India lost the series opener in Headingley, but bounced back with a historic victory in Edgbaston their very first test victory at the location. England took the lead again by winning the third test at Lord’s. India caught five sessions to sign the fourth test in Old Trafford before sealing a memorable victory in the oval.

Gill led from the front with the bat and scored 754 points in 10 innings with an average of 75.40. He hit four centuries, including a double ton, and shared the player of the series prize with Harry Brook in England, who made 481 runs at 53.44.
