Sanjay Manjrekar insisted on the Indian team management to give Arshdeep Singh His red-ball debut in the fifth test against England in The Oval in London, from Thursday 31 July, prior to Prasidh Krishna.
Krishna played the first few test matches in the five-match series against England, but did not succeed in making an impact. He took six wickets on an average of 55.17 and an economy of 5.34. On the other hand, Arshdeep has been at the side since the start of the Tour, but was unable to get his first test cover. Allegedly he was in line to play the fourth test, but an injury on his hand ruled him.
Manjrekar said that India should invest in Arshdeep, who is three years younger than Krishna, and can be a long-term option for the bowling line-up.
“When it comes to the narrow phone call between Prasidh Krishna and Arshdep, I would like to go with Arshdep. We have seen enough of Prasidh Krishna … Investing in someone you could give in the long term, and that is where I would like to go with Arshdep,” Manjrekar told Espncricinfo.
While Manjrekar refused to be too critical of the underfire Anshul Kamboj, who made his debut in the fourth test, said the cricket player who had become the expert that he might have to wait a while before he gets another game in India colors.
“Anshul kamboj, it’s a bit too hard, but alone, you know, I don’t see him the [his] Second test only because of what he looked like instead of his return, “he added.

Manjrekar joined various experts and fans in beating for the recording of Kuldeep Yadav. The left-arm wrist spinner has not been able to break into the Playing XI during the Tour so far. Manjrekar, however, believes that the addition of Kuldeep on the side can make a difference.
“India will have to start trusting their Batting -Line -Up Despite the fact that he is not part of it rishabh pant, and Kuldeep Yadav will have to come back. Shardul Thakur is out … For me it is a no -brainer,” Manjrekar said.
Manjrekar also expressed his concern about the fitness and consistency of Akash Deep. The Bengal Seamer took 10 wickets in the second test, but failed to replicate in the third performance. He missed the fourth test due to an injury.
“Akash Deep, even if he plays, it will be a question to see if he will be able to replicate what he did earlier in this series. So I would think Akash Diep, even if he is 80-90% fit, or how much of his bowling he has seen in a good performance and in the next mitensence is not, but you have not made a choice, but you have no choice.
