Eng vs Ind 2025: Twitter reactions – Shubman Gill scores the fourth century on the Tour of England, gives India hope for a draw in Manchester

Shubman Gill has led India from the front on its first tour as a test captain. He stands in the way of England of a series of victory on the last day of the fourth test in Old Trafford, Manchester.

Shubman and Kl Rahul struck with a lot of determination in the last two sessions on day 4, after India lost two wickets without getting a run on the board in their second innings. They followed the first innings of England at that stage with 310.

Shubman and Rahul, however, have passed the storm with their phenomenal partnership. The first hit an impressive success rate and sent the poor deliveries to the border in the first phase of his innings. Once he was put on the fold, he put a prize on his wicket and frustrated the bowlers of England by showing phenomenal grit and determination.

He continued an overnight score of 78 of 167 balls on day 5. The right -handed Slagman lost Kl Rahul after the duo had added a stunning partnership of 188 from 417 balls. Rahul was on a ball that loved Ben Stokes. Shubman also had to contend with such deliveries, but he managed to survive.

In the 83rd, Shubman brought up his fourth century in the top and sent a delivery of Chris Woakes by Point to take a single. He raised his bat and blew a kiss with it. The 25-year-old was appreciated for his remarkable batting effort by the spectators in Old Trafford when they gave him a standing ovation.

Shubman became the first player to register as the leader in their debutation series for four centuries. Five others – Warwick Armstrong, Don Bradman, Greg Chappell, Virat Kohli and Steven Smith – had three at the helm in their debut series.
