Real Madrid striker Endrick has agreed to join Lyon on loan for the rest of the season.
Great expectations accompanied Endrick’s move to the Santiago Bernabeu from Palmeiras, which was agreed in 2022 but not completed until July 2024, after his 18th birthday.
However, the teenager has failed to make a major impact for Los Blancos so far. His playing time has been limited, both under Carlo Ancelotti in the 2024/2025 season and under Xabi Alonso this season.
Endrick made 37 appearances for Madrid in all competitions last season, but only eight of those were starts and he was only on the pitch for a total of 847 minutes.
Despite scoring seven goals last season, he has made just three appearances (once in the starting line-up) and a total of 99 minutes since Alonso replaced Ancelotti in the Madrid dugout.
Endrick missed the first month of this season with a muscle injury, while he was recently red carded on the bench during a damaging 2-0 defeat to Celta Vigo.
Madrid were keen for the 19-year-old to get regular first-team football and further his development. It was confirmed on Tuesday that he will spend the remainder of the 2025-2026 season in Lyon.
Endrick will officially join Lyon on January 1, although French rules mean players are only allowed to feature for their new club four days after registering. So he will not be available for their trip to Monaco on January 3.
Lyon are currently fifth in Ligue 1, four points behind Lille in fourth place.
