Emma Raducanu was able to meet four -time French open champion Iga Swiatek in the second round in Roland Garros.

Swiatek has won the title for the past three years, while Raducanu, who has to pass the Chinese Wang Xinyu for the first time, only played the tournament before.

That was in 2022, when she reached the second round, with the former US Open Champion 2023 missing after operations on both wrists and a single and then chose not to compete in the qualification last year.

She returns to Paris ranked in the top 50 and hope to continue her encouraging form on the clay, including a run to the fourth round of the Italian open.

Raducanu struggled with a repeat of a back problem during a loss of the second round for Danielle Collins during the WTA event in Strasbourg on Wednesday, but it is understood that there is no concern about her participation in Roland Garros, with the 22-year-old on the way to the French capital.

While Swiatek, who defeated Raducanu for the loss of just one game on the Australian Open in January, would be a formidable challenge, it has been a difficult season for the post.

She has not won a title since the French Open last year and went to fifth place in the ranking after non -characteristic versions on her favorite surface.

Swiatek, who is opposed to Slovakia Rebecca Sramkova, joined Paris Saint-Germain star Ousmane Dembele at the draw, and said: “Everyone is here to win. I work hard to be ready and to play tennis as well as possible.

“This season certainly had more ups and downs, but I know my game is there. I just have to find out how it can be used in the best possible way. Tennis is sometimes a complicated sport, but we have to make it easy in our head.”
