MY WATCHLIST AND EMILY SUVALJKO REPEAT

Suvaljko was engaged to pilot My Watchlist, trained by Gary Hall snr, for the first time after Hall jnr opted to field his own nomination Nathan Street, who was the $2.65 outside favorite at barrier eight. My watchlist was the third favorite at $6.40 from the No. 4 barrier.

My Watchlist, a lightly bred six-year-old from New Zealand, settled into seventh place in the one-wide line, with pole marker Era ($23) setting the pace after surviving an early challenge from $8.50 chance Fat Louie after recording an early lead of 35.6 seconds.

Hall junior sent Nathan Street forward with a three-wide burst shortly after the start and the talented but somewhat erratic four-year-old went into the wind after 550 metres. The opening phase was completed comfortably in 31.1 seconds. and 29.8 sec.

Nathan Street looked certain to win when he charged ahead with 400 meters to go, but broke into a bad gallop on the home bend and dropped back to finish eighth. My Watchlist, after being cleared wide 250 meters from home, went to the front 120 meters from the post and won by a length from the fast finish of $20 Quinton, with a rating of 1.56.9 after the final 400 meter sections of 28.2 seconds. and 29.2 sec.

“I had never chased My Watchlist before and the race went perfectly for him,” said Suvaljko. It traveled nicely on a helmet, and when I pulled it out it really exploded and revealed that electric foot movement.

“It was good to win with him because at his previous start a fortnight ago he ran me down and beat me with Hi Sugar Rush.”
