Eddie Howe has spoken ahead of Newcastle v Fulham.
The cup match is fast approaching on Wednesday, kick-off is at 8.15pm at St James’ Park.
The prize at stake is a place in the last four of the Carabao Cup.
Eddie Howe hopes to reach three semi-finals in this competition in four years.
A brutal run of games in a packed schedule for Newcastle United, playing both weekdays and every weekend.
Eddie Howe speaks ahead of Newcastle v Fulham – December 16, 2025:
“The great thing about football is that you get another chance to concentrate.
“That’s a good thing for us after Sunday.
“It’s a difficult match, but a great opportunity for us to reach another semi-final of this competition.
“Then we have something positive to focus on.”
Eddie Howe on the defeat against Sunderland:
“Part of my job is to stay very flat.
“If you don’t do that and go along with the emotional rollercoaster that football brings, you can damage relationships that are extremely important.
“I have to be constructive in my feedback and criticism, which I will try to do, because we have to be very honest with the players and they have to be honest with us.
“Then we have to find a way forward and find a way to get consistent results, and that is what we are still looking for this season.”
Eddie Howe on his reaction on Sunday:
“I can’t do that myself, it will be us together as a group.
“I understand.
“The one thing I urge the supporters to do is what they have always done since I have been here, which is to support the team when they play.
“We still have a huge group of games to go and we have the opportunity to still make it a great season, so as long as we are in that position, while everything can still be positive, we have to attack it with all our efforts together.”
Eddie Howe is Yoane Wis:
“I will make a decision about that [whether he’s able to start] in consultation with everyone.
“We’ll have to see if he can execute what we need.”
Eddie Howe on Dan Burn:
“It was a big blow for us because I think he has been excellent in recent weeks.
“It’s a rib problem and a problem with his lungs, so we wish him the best and it will last about four to six weeks.”
Eddie Howe on his defensive options:
“The back line is a problem for us.
“We don’t have many injuries, but we have a concentrated group of players who all play in the same position.
“With Sven [Botman]we’re not quite sure when he’ll return. He has made good progress, but is not yet ready to play.
Emil Krafth and Kieran Trippier are not here yet and we believe their target date will be around the New Year.
Jamaal Lascelles returns from a muscle problem. He is fit and trains with the group.”
