This was an easy training week because we went south at the weekend for a wedding, so I took a few days off from driving. I still got a few hard days with sprints and intervals, as well as two days of training in the upper body.
The wedding was the daughter of our friend we knew and kept a toddler since she was a toddler. The bride and groom bought a house on a large site with a very beautiful area in their backyard in Woodland Hills, and that is where the ceremony and reception were held. It was a beautiful ceremony, the first Jewish wedding I attended, and we had a good time at the reception. The weekend was not completely perfect, due to some travel problems. Neither my wife or I have run too much lately, apart from activities of daily life, but this journey required a lot. First we had to park very far from the terminal in San Jose, then it appears that there is a long walk from the terminal at Burbank Airport to where you pick up rental cars. Even if you are in considerable form, you do a lot of activity that you are not used to, can lead to pain, and yes, I have shin -splints and my wife a painful leg, but we are better after a few days.
On the way back we were a bit behind schedule to get to the airport. It did not help that Google Maps crushed it: I was looking for “bur” that should recognize it as an airport code, instead it brought us to a train station near the airport. Restoring that error, then again the long walk from the rental car waste to the terminal, meant that it would be tight on time to get through the security on time. But it turned out that our flight was delayed. A 10 -minute delay would have been perfect, but it was an hour. Then it went smoothly. In retrospect, this was all a small glitch, definitely worth seeing Nikki’s wedding.
I went back to easy cycling on Monday and went on a long with my group in the hills southwest of Morgan Hill. We had a number of new riders who had never been there before and it was nice to see their reaction to the landscape.
Next week I will try to bump my upper body training to 3 days instead of 2, because I have well tolerated my 2 -day program. We will see how that goes.
Or malfunction in the large schedule of things.
