EarthRoamer’s new LTX & SX 2.0: off-grid freedom meets quiet luxury adventure

EarthRoamer adds two new models to its expedition-driven lineup.

EarthRoamer has always attracted a certain kind of adventurer who doesn’t rely on a campsite map or electrical hookups to feel comfortable. For more than 27 years, the Colorado-based brand has been designing and building luxury expedition vehicles meant to travel further without giving up the things that make time on the road luxurious. With more than 450 Xpedition vehicles roaming the deserts, forests and coastlines of North America, EarthRoamer has built a reputation rooted in real-world testing rather than marketing promises. The introduction of the all-new EarthRoamer LTX and EarthRoamer SX 2.0 continues the story of continuous improvement, not of change per se, but of refinement shaped by the owners who drive their trucks thousands of miles every year.

The EarthRoamer LTX replaces the outgoing one LTiagain based on the trusted Ford F-550 4×4 platform with its 6.7 liter turbo diesel and serious payload. But the familiar design supports a traveler’s cabin that has been meaningfully reworked with help from the actual owners. For example, the new L-shaped section is all about simple functionality: a place to rest after a long day on the road, which can easily be converted into an additional sleeping space if necessary. An overhead California King bunk bed provides plenty of room to stretch out without having to negotiate with walls or ceiling panels. Materials lean toward durability with a touch of luxury on surfaces that can withstand sand-covered feet and damp coats. Thanks to a redesigned 24-volt power system, expanded solar capacity and a 9,000-watt inverter, power becomes the background rather than a limitation. You can cook, set the climate control and enjoy lighting without constantly monitoring the battery level. The result is a 30-foot expedition vehicle that encourages longer stays and fewer compromises, making life off the grid feel more like normal life.

For explorers who prefer extra space and capacity, the EarthRoamer SX 2.0 builds on a Chevrolet Silverado 6500HD chassis, providing more interior volume and increased cargo capacity. The interior height is now over two meters, which may sound like a small detail until you’ve been on the road for a week and realize how refreshing it is to stand upright. Storage space has also increased throughout, from a redesigned bathroom with more cabinets to the rear pass-through garage, where large items can finally be carried without creative packing. With up to ten cubic meters of refrigerator and freezer space, meals are not limited to what fits in a cooler box, and real ingredients can be taken with you on the trip. A 120-gallon freshwater capacity and 24,000 watt-hour banks provide ample power, while the new universal wall charger is suitable for virtually any global power standard.

Where both vehicles excel are in the minor upgrades that come from years of owner feedback, including a wider entry door that makes loading easier, a functional entry closet that doubles as a mudroom, integrated screens, hidden cooking surfaces that become additional work space, and a pass-through that now closes with a barn door mechanism for added security. None of these feel like a checkbox feature. They show that EarthRoamer listens and understands that comfort is not just about luxury, but about thoughtful design that eliminates the friction of everyday moments.

The LTX and SX 2.0 continue EarthRoamer’s mission to make remote travel feel natural. They are built for people who feel most comfortable when the nearest highway is a memory and the scenery outside the window is not repetitive. With these latest additions, EarthRoamer supports the idea that adventure is better if you can stay a little longer.
