A collection of photos taken by Paul McCartney When the Beatles stood on the edge of the worldwide star, must be shown in an exhibition that sheds light at intimate moments, since the group experienced fame for the first time.
Paul McCartney: Rearview Mirror, who opens in London on August 28 at the Gagosian Gallery in London, contains more than 30 shots made by the singer-songwriter in Late 1963 after the release of The Beatles’s first album when they traveled to the US.

The band followed that in 1964 with singles, including A Hard Day’s Night and two more albums that helped them break America and become a global phenomenon.
In the fall 1963, McCartney decided to pick up a camera, long before he and the group became some of the most photographed people on the planet. He bought a simple pentax and usually used black -white kodak and ilford film and took a small selection of color images at the beginning of 1964.
‘I think they knew that history happened, “Chuang said.” They wanted to capture it and do it themselves. They chose a camera for the same reason that someone does to have your own opinion. “
The color shots usually catch the hectic first steps in the world of American Light Entertainment, with rehearsals behind the scenes in the Ed Sullivan show and relaxed swimming pool moments before they played live for Sullivan on Miami Beach.
McCartney also cuts fans while waiting outside of hotels and catching paparazzi who swarm around the band. More reflective self -portraits have also been taken before live shows and interviews. One of the self -portraits is taken in the attic of the then girlfriend of McCartney, the actor Jane Asher, where he wrote the melody yesterday.

Chuang said: “When life happens so quickly and changes so quickly, you don’t often have the chance to stop and look at yourself in the mirror. And I really think that is exactly what he does: looking at himself in the vicinity and wanting to crystallize that moment, not knowing what was going to happen.“
The images cover the era in which the band was well known in the UK, but could still get the cold shoulder if they ventured abroad. McCartney’s photos of Paris point to a less than Rapturous response in the French capital. He catches the modest crowd outside the Olympia-where they had a three-week run and a walk through the Champs-Elysées where John Lennon could still run free.
Some images were shown in 2023 at Paul McCartney Photographs 1963-64: Eyes of the Storm, an exhibition of the photos he rediscovered during the pandemie.
