Daniil Medvedev won the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championship without hitting a ball after his opponent withdrew from the ATP 500. Evet withdrew from the final with a left hamstring injury.

Tallon Greekpoor suffered the injury on Friday during his semi-final match against Andrey Rublev, in which he won 7-5 7-6(6), when he landed badly on a serve.

Unable to recover overnight, Greek track decided to forfeit the final, handing the Russian a walkover and his 21st title on hard court.

“I’ve been better, that’s for sure,” Greek Spoor said during the trophy presentation. “Unfortunately I hurt myself during the semi-finals. I went to hospital this morning and had a few scans which showed something serious. It has put me off the track tonight and will keep me off the track for the next few weeks.”

Overall, it is Medvedev’s 23rd tour-level crown and second of the 2026 season, following his win in Brisbane last January. It is also the first time the 30-year-old has lifted the trophy twice at the same event, having previously triumphed in Dubai in 2023.

“That’s the crazy thing about it,” Medvedev said when asked if he had won the same event twice for the first time. “I haven’t done it in any city in the world, and the first time I do it, it’s like this [via] a walkover… We knew before the start of the week that the way I practiced I couldn’t miss a ball. We knew it would be a great week. It was a great week and I’m looking forward to the next tournaments.”

Medvedev will next compete in the ATP Masters 1000 in Indian Wells, where he is a two-time finalist.
