The conversation for pound-for-pound can have a new addition if Dricus du Plessis has long on UFC 319.
Du Plessis is the pay-per-view event on Saturday and has not been defeated since 6 October 2018. Many experts have weighed what to expect when the cage door closes for du Plessis vs. Chimaev.
Chael Sonnen went “Good guy/bad guy” To ask how close to Du Plessis would be above the top of the pound-for-pound list (H/T Inappropriate).
“In a division that is tough, and I was the king in the middleweight, I knew middle weights inside and out, they did not have 10 Anderson Silvas in Middleigt, but they are doing it now,” said Sonnen on “Good Guy/Bad Guy” with Daniel Cormier. If Dricus can go outside and look good and win the victory over Chimaev, I think he will suddenly flirt with the space of Islam and the space of Ilia.
“He will flirt with the top three, and that is the only way we know how we can compliment them in our industry, we give them a belt, we give them a main event, then we will give them a little more, and that top three pound-for-pounds are very within reach for Dricus.”
The DDP coach, Morne Visser, appeared on the UFC 319 Countdown Show and he called Chimaev ‘One-Dimensional’. Chimaev has sworn Chicago to walk out with UFC Gold, and he has crushed rumors that claimed that he retired if he beat Du Plessis on Saturday. Things are warmed up in the middleweight division with Reinier de Ridder, Nassourdine Imavov, Caio Borralho and an emerging Anthony Hernandez.
We will soon discover who will welcome the next harvest of challengers in the UFC Middleweight Division.
