DRaysBay’s top ten articles for 2025

3 minutes, 57 seconds Read

At the start of every year, we like to look back at the past year to see which moments resonated most for Rays fans and our broader readership.

Here are the ten most read articles on DRaysBay in 2025:

Honorable Mention – Candidate for Rays Stadium Site: WestShore Plaza

This article went live in the evening of December 30 and was already ranked 11th in our most viewed articles for 2025. Given the staying power of the Stadium Saga articles, it’s reasonable to expect that this would have entered the top ten in the coming days had the new year not started within 30 hours of publication.

10. Rays change their minds and ask for Tropicana Field to be repaired

One of the most shocking moments in the Rays Stadium Saga was the sudden pivot from the Rays front office back to Tropicana Field, which was not actively being repaired when the team announced their intention to return to the stadium for which they had an active lease.

9. Rays continue to make false claims that the county is delaying bond approval and has broken the stadium contract

One of the final moments that destroyed the previous ownership group’s relationship with local politicians, allowing a sale of the team to the Zalupski group who took over at the end of 2025. Here we discuss how Rays executives said Pinellas County “effectively broke” the team’s new stadium contract. Unfortunately, this was not a truthful statement.

8. 2025 Trade Deadline: Rays make seven deals but keep their stars

The Rays completely revamped the catching battery, but this time took a less dramatic — though no less busy — approach to the trade deadline.

7. 2025 MLB Draft: Tampa Bay Rays draft tracker and signing board

This draft the Rays signed all but their last pick in the 20th round, and this article showed who signed, when they did so and for how much. Interestingly enough, the Rays went over their slot to secure their two second-round picks, but they were able to do so by saving $1.2 million in projected bonuses for their two first-round picks.

6. What to Know Before Going to George M. Steinbrenner Field

Many people had a lot of questions about what to expect when they visited GMS Field, so we’ve collected the various resources in one location for your reference. If you read it, I hope you found it useful!

5. Rate the prospects acquired during the Rays Holiday Haul

While there was no formal announcement on the front page, many of you may have noticed that we recently welcomed it Ben Witlaw to the site. In this article, he detailed the prospects acquired to replenish the Rays farm (more on that in the next article!).

4. The Rays’ rebuild has already backfired

The Rays front office claimed that the 2024 sellout of star players was definitely not a sellout, but then came 2025’s underperformance, both on the field and on the farm, leading to this article marking the moment as a turning point. Will the change in ownership of the team and the continued selling of veterans like Baz and Lowe keep things moving in the right direction?

3. Orlando is emerging as a potential destination for the Rays

Before the new Rays ownership group was decided late in the 2025 season, an ownership group emerged in the Orlando area claiming to have $1 billion in private financing available to pursue a new ballpark for the Central Florida baseball team, along with a location and some renderings. That lead financier would later defect to join the winning ownership group.

Also popular was a long follow-up we posted about how Orlando had the financial benefit of hotel taxes that could have boosted the Rays’ trip to I-4.

Last year, the top two articles were neck and neck the most read, while these top articles were by far the most read last season.

2. The leading candidate for a new Rays stadium: HCC Dale Mabry

The new Rays ownership group pulled off an upset during their opening press conference. It was expected that the team would pursue a new stadium as quickly as humanly possible – the purchased team didn’t even have a stadium to play in when the transaction took place – but the intention to find a 100-acre site significantly narrowed the search to one obvious target: the same location where the Rays played games in 2025.

1. Rays unveil the renovated Yankees stadium

The Rays invited the media, including our crew, to tour the renovated GMS Field before the 2025 season began, and this article was packed with photos of Lizzie previewing the Rays’ work to transform a Yankees complex into a home for the Tampa Bay Rays.

Thank you for your continued readership of DRaysBay, please keep joining us in the comments, and here’s to a bright and brighter future for the Rays, starting with a return to Tropicana Field in April!
