Doo Wop Kid dances to another NAADA victory

YONKER, NY– Alan Schwartz and his 6-year-old Wishing stone gelding Doo Wop Kid claimed another victory in the North American Amateur Drivers Association (NAADA) harness racing series Thursday evening (Nov. 20) with a solid rally to take the spoils in the $20,000 Fall Trotting Series finale at Yonkers Raceway.

Doo Wop Kid left post 3 and settled into the middle of the pack as a three-wide battle ensued for the lead. The Last Chapter (powered by Andrew Adamczyk) pushed three wide and dived to the top after a first quarter of :28.3, pocketing Roger Rabbit (Joe Lee), while Ima Standup Guy (Joe Faraldo) hung in first. Faraldo pushed forward and shadowed The Last Chapter through a half of :58.4, but stopped as the field moved for the backstretch, after which Voss Blue Chip (Tony Beltrami) – positioned second – tapped three wide to advance. Schwartz followed suit, sending Doo Wop Kid to follow Beltrami’s helmet.

The Last Chapter led the way, clocking three-quarters in 1:28, while Ima Standup Guy retreated into the final corner. Voss Blue Chip surged forward after his three-wide move to draw alongside The Last Chapter as Doo Wop Kid moved deeper into the lane on his way home.

Doo Wop Kid held on through the middle of the course and reached Voss Blue Chip through the stretch to deliver the winning blow at the finish by a nose in a 1:58.3 mile. The Last Chapter settled for third, beaten by two lengths, while Psalmsfortysixfive (Scott Keppler) rallied in fourth.
