The journalist had told Harshit how the Indian bowling struggled to strike early without Bumrah’s presence in the ODI XI.
“We see that, in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah; we see a problem in the Indian bowling. With the new ball, wickets are not coming easily. What is the reason for that?”, the reporter asked during the post-match conference, as quoted by NDTV Sports.
Harshit responded by stating that Mohammed Siraj bowled well and the bowling attack limited the flow of runs quite well.
“I don’t know what cricket you’ve seen. If you look at it today, when we don’t get wickets, Siraj has bowled very well. We haven’t even given away runs with the new ball. And that’s not the case. It’s like if you don’t get wickets with the new ball, you take them out in the middle,” Rana noted.
In the same press conference, Harshit also said that the team management wanted to groom him as an all-rounder. The pacer also admitted that Harshit had worked on his batting in the nets and also credited veteran KL Rahul for guiding him when he was in the middle.
Harshit had an impressive outing in the middle. He took two wickets in his 10 overs in the first innings. He then contributed with a valuable knock of 29 runs and 23 deliveries with two fours and a six.
The second and third ODIs will be played in Rajkot (January 14) and Indore (January 18) respectively. The Men in Blue want to end the series soon.
