President Donald Trump has stated that the US has been established to start negotiations with China about a possible deal in which Tiktok is involved. The discussions are expected to start in the coming week.
What happened: Trump has unveiled plans to initiate conversations with China about the sale of Tiktok. “We have almost a deal,” Trump announced on Friday and hinted that the negotiations could start in Monday or Tuesday.
“I think we will start Monday or Tuesday, talk to China, maybe President Xi Jinping or one of his representatives, but we have almost a deal,” Trump said.
According to the Reuters report, Trump’s announcement was the heels of a report from the Charles Gaparino of the post that a potential buyer had been identified for the Chinese app.
However, the real obstacle lies with the seller. The deal is expected to make the approval of China necessary, because Tiktok has emerged as an important factor in the current trade negotiations of the US china.
In addition, Trump has granted an extension to the parent company of Tiktok, BytedanceTo divest his American assets by September 17. This is the third expansion since Trump’s re -entry to the White House in January.
