ESPN estimates that the Dodgers have a 22.2 percent chance of winning the World Series, compared to the 22.4 percent chance they had before the Winter Meetings. That total is more than double the odds of the closest team: the Atlanta Braves with a 10.2 percent chance. Furthermore, the Dodgers have a 95.3 percent chance of making the postseason, just as they have done in each of the past thirteen seasons.
“The Dodgers’ offseason consisted of bringing in a new closer Edwin Diaz in free agency and then work on the edges,” ESPN’s Bradford Doolittle wrote. “Now you get the feeling they’re sitting back and enjoying some fine cigars, coiled like a proverbial snake, waiting to strike again when the time is right.
“As it stands right now, LA expects the No. 2 offense and the best pitching staff, both in the rotation and in the bullpen.”
The Dodgers led the National League in wRC+ last season with a rating of 113, second in the MLB only to the New York Yankees. Their elite pitching staff also posted the second-most fWAR in the MLB, falling just behind the Philadelphia Phillies.
Do the Dodgers still have room for improvement in 2026?
LA is essentially a shoe-in for the postseason, as they have qualified to play in October for the past thirteen seasons, and their recent dominance and abundance of talent gives ESPN’s model plenty of reason to believe the Dodgers will reach the World Series again.
While the Dodgers have a lot of talent in their ranks, Doolittle believes the Dodgers still have room to improve.
“The Dodgers also have the oldest position group in the Majors and could combine some youth and athleticism,” Doolittle wrote. “Both would be achieved if Alex Vrijland And Hyeseong Kim are ready to take on bigger roles. Of course, signing would also make them a little younger and more athletic Kyle Tucker and found a buyer for it Teoscar Hernández.”
The Dodgers signed Tucker to a four-year, $240 million contract, which immediately bolstered their outfield heading into 2026.
It appears the Dodgers are gearing up to continue their dominance for a long time to come.
