The Dodgers fought back from a sloppy start to the NLDs as Teoscar Hernandez Beaned for a miss that led to at least one (possibly two) runs with a Goad Game-winning seventh inning Homer. Shohei Ohtani was excellent on the hill outside of a rough second inning, giving the Dodgers six solid innings earlier Tyler GlasNow” Alex shutters And Roki Sasaki Held the Phillies off the board for a 5-3 victory. The Dodgers Stal Game 1 in Philly, which is historically a good sign.
They now have a home field advantage in this round and have the chance to really keep their foot on the throat of the Phillies with Blake Snell confronted against Luzardo.

Snell made his Dodger after -season debut in game 1 against the Reds and very good. It was the first of Snell’s 13 career postseason trips where he threw past the sixth inning when he completed seven with four hits, two points and one walk allowed with nine strikeouts. Almost all damage came in the seventh inning when Snell allowed a few singles, a run-scoring groundout and an RBI double for both runs and three of the four hits. He was able to endure the inning on a groundout, so that the Dodgers kept up for the bull pen to make things more tense than they had to be in the eighth. Snell saw the Phillies on September 17 and turned his best start of the season, making two hits over seven Shutout-Inings with a season-high 12 strikeouts. Only two Phillie -starters (JT RealMuto And Bryson Stott) did not play in the game and five of their starters have hit several times, including Kyle SchwarberThe three strikeouts. Snell’s last postseason -start before this year came across the Phillies when he was at the Padres in 2022. He allowed four points in five innings and really worked in the second inning. He allowed three straight singles to start the inning, with the third score a point and Alec Bohm ending in second place in one Juan Soto Gooifout. He got a strikeout, but admitted a double, single and RBI groundout for a four-run, five hit inning. He was almost perfect outside that disastrous inning, so that only a fifth inning ran outside. He also achieved the victory in the game, such as AARON NOLA Struggled and the Padres equalized the series.
Luzardo gets the game 2 start in his fifth career late season outing. He was not good as a starter in the Play -offs, with 10 runs and 19 hits allowed in 11 2/3 innings in two starts for Oakland in 2020 and a start for Miami in 2023 in 2023. His first performance in the Postseason came in Reliëf in 2019 and he was one Hit and two walks in three walks in three walks.
Luzardo had a nice bounceback year after a rough, loaded by injury 2024. He set a new career with 183 2/3 innings and placed a 3.92 ERA with a 2.90 FIP. He started in LA on September 17 opposite Snell came through seven, but allowed four runs and six hits. Freddie Freeman Led the second with a Homer and Luzardo came back for the eighth, but Ohtani hit a lead -off Homer to chase him out of the game. He also faced the Dodgers in Philly in April in his second start as Philly and allowed two hits about seven shutout -innings with eight strikeouts.
Luzardo did not have a nice era, but otherwise he returned a pretty good year. His strikeout percentage of 28.5 percent was the sixth best among qualified starters and you could claim that he got a bit of bad luck because his .324 Babip was the fourth highest despite placing an above-average XBA (.235, 66th percentile) and a hard hit (37.1 percent, 77th percentile). His running speed was also not bad (7.5 percent, 61st percentile). Luzardo leads with a four-seizer who he throws 34.1 percent of the time and on average 96.5 mph. He throws a wipe machine (31 percent), change (17.3 percent), zinc shed (10 percent) and a sliding regulator (7.7 percent). His sweeper had a scent of 43.7 percent, bound for the third highest scent for each pitch for qualified starters per baseball savant (minus 200 plate performances).
The Dodgers roll out a very similar line -up as game 1 against another Lefty Starter. Leg rortvedt Stays behind the plate Will Smith caught the last four innings in game 1. Enrique Hernandez starts on the left with Alex Call Sitting today, and Miguel Rojas starts in third place as Max Muncy is again. For the Phillies, Harrison Bader Sit today after leaving game 1 with a hamstring/lies problem. His MRI came back clean and he could be available to hit today, but Brandon Marsh Gets the beginning in the middle with Otto Kemp Left and Nick Castellanos right.

It will be interesting to see how they manage games 3 and 4 behind the plate. Game 3 is a starting time of 6 pm in LA and Game 4 is the next day at 3 (or 4, depending on the other series’), so we will see if they have Smith catch a day-like competition after a night-like competition.

If this series goes to Game 5, Ohtani would get the start. It will not be available from the Bullpen in this series.

He pitching in the pen is not very logical, since he would have to warm up and they would lose the DH, but he was put in line to start a potential game 5 on Saturday. Game 1 of the NLCS is planned for a week from today, so if they finish this series early, it would not be surprising if he still gets a game 1 start.
