The Los Angeles Dodgers still have All-Star catcher Will Smith’s status up in the air for Game 3 of the NLDS. Smith came off the bench in Games 1 and 2 and was able to both hit and continue working behind the plate after replacing Ben Rortvedt. The Dodgers could employ a similar game plan in Game 3.
In other news, rookie right-hander Roki Sasaki made history after his save on Monday night. Sasaki has been electric since returning to the mound after more than four months on the injured list, but instead of falling out of the rotation, the 23-year-old has been a crucial member of the bullpen.
Finally, manager Dave Roberts provided an injury update on Miguel Rojas after he left Monday’s win early with a hamstring injury. Rojas made a diving play to tag out speedster and former Dodger Trea Turner in the sixth inning.
“I know he’s adjusted the hamstring a little bit,” Roberts said. “He obviously has the day off and won’t start tomorrow, but I’m sure he’ll be ready for whatever we need from him in the game tomorrow. But I think he’ll be fine.”
