Dodgers Notes: Edwin Diaz Named Closer, Former Reliever Linked To Red Sox, Tyler Glasnow Trade Update

New Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Edwin Diaz was revealed less than a week ago. However, he has already been named closer for the upcoming season by president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman.

The Dodgers have obvious bullpen issues heading into next season, and a hole at the closer spot, making it a no-brainer that he will take the ball to close out games.

In other news, Tyler Glasnow addressed the trade rumors linking him to a trade package for CEO Tarik Skubal in a recent interview. As an older, more expensive arm, Glasnow could free up money for an extension while giving the Dodgers a chance to move on with an injury-prone arm, though the right-hander threw cold water on that idea.

Finally, former Dodgers reliever Evan Phillips was linked with a move east, forcing him to leave the Dodgers after the organization failed to make him an offer.
