More news: Dodgers’ Clayton Kershaw reveals when he knew he would retire
For many teams, the offseason is a time to rebuild or add pieces that could make a difference in a deep postseason run. However, the Dodgers are in a unique position. If LA proved anything last season, it’s that the front office isn’t willing to be complacent.
Although the Dodgers hoisted the Commissioner’s Trophy at the start of the month, there are still areas where the team can improve as they aim to three-peat in 2026.
One such area is in the outfield, and for the second winter in a row, the crown jewel of the free agency class is an outfielder. Chicago Cubs star Kyle Tucker is expected to sign a landmark contract and the Dodgers will be in the running for him.
But as with Juan Soto’s pursuit last winter, the Dodgers are not expected to be the highest bidder. Bob Nightingale of USA Today reports that the Dodgers’ primary focus this offseason is strengthening their bullpen, which has been a huge problem in 2025.
“The Los Angeles Dodgers, with $87 million off the books, will keep people honest in the Kyle Tucker sweepstakes, but likely won’t be the highest bidders — instead they want to focus on strengthening their bullpen,” Nightengale wrote. “They could pursue Edwin Diaz or Devin Williams, but rival executives expect them to go after former Tampa Bay Rays closer Pete Fairbanks, who has 75 saves with a 2.98 ERA over the past three seasons.”
The Dodgers are hungry for a third consecutive World Series title, but that won’t happen unless LA’s front office puts together another strong offseason.
