Dodgers make Kyle Tucker deal official: Top quotes from Presser

The Los Angeles Dodgers made official the signing of Kyle Tucker to a four-year, $240 million deal on Tuesday.

The All-Star outfielder was introduced to members of the media at Dodger Stadium by president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman and general manager Brandon Gomes.

The newest Dodgers star explained why he chose to join the defending champions over the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Mets. The World Series runner-up offered Tucker a 10-year deal worth $350 million, but the outfielder opted to take the short-term, high annual average value route with LA instead.

“There are a lot of great ball clubs with great teams, and they all have unique things that make them great. But like I said, I think this organization is top-notch from the top down, and the team that these guys have put together and put together to provide a great product for the fan base and the city to go out and compete for a championship speaks for itself,” Tucker said.

“Just taking everything into account and wanting to be a part of that, I think is really special. You don’t get that very often. So it will be a lot of fun to play with these guys and compete for another, hopefully, three-peat here.”

Additionally, manager Dave Roberts revealed the new starting lineup with the addition of Tucker.

“I see him (Tucker) getting second or third,” Roberts said.
