The Los Angeles Dodgers will be without left-handed pitcher Tanner Scott for the National League Championship Series after undergoing an abscess incision in his lower body this week.

Since Scott was removed from the team’s NL Division Series roster, he is no longer eligible to play on the NLCS roster. However, he would be eligible to make the World Series roster if LA made it that far.
Manager Dave Roberts didn’t close the door on Scott potentially making the World Series roster when he spoke about his injury Thursday.
“I still feel like in the World Series – if we’re lucky enough to get there and earn our way there – he’ll be available,” Roberts said prior to NLDS Game 4.
General Manager Brandon Gomes as long as a slightly more in-depth timeline for Scott’s return, which ties in with Roberts’ thinking.
“Sounds like something from seven days to two weeks,” Gomes told reporters Thursday.

With Game 1 of the World Series not scheduled to take place until October 24, Scott has two weeks to heal, which would allow him to return according to Gomes’ timeline.
As for how the medical issue came about, Roberts said the team started noticing the problem during Tuesday night’s practice. Gomes had a little more information than the skipper.
“It sounded like it was awkward,” Gomes said. “Then we thought he was on the other side. And then it got worse to the point where we had to have the procedure.”
Scott had a rough first season with the Dodgers after signing a four-year, $72 million contract this offseason. He made 61 appearances, had a 4.74 ERA with a league-high 10 saves. He did not appear in the Wild Card series against the Cincinnati Reds or in the NLDS against the Philadelphia Phillies before being removed from the roster.
