That could change in just a few days, as team executives, agents and reporters come to Orlando to conduct trades, free agent signings and other business around the league. Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes, who will be in Orlando this week, has offered clues as to how the Dodgers could approach free agency as they look to fill specific holes on the roster.
“By being aggressive the last few seasons, we have a very, very good core,” Gomes said told the Los Angeles Times. “So it’s continuing to refine and look at what the weaknesses are in the roster and try to address those. … It’s very focused on who we want to acquire. I think that’s true across the board, without a lot of glaring holes.”

Signing a player who would both help the Dodgers shore up their outfield defense and provide a big boost to the batting order would be free agent right fielder Kyle Tucker. Tucker, who is only 28, would help add some youth to the aging Dodgers’ roster, though it would come at a hefty price.
The Dodgers want players on shorter-term contracts with a higher average annual value, and Tucker is likely seeking a deal of at least eight to 10 years. However, if the Dodgers really want to make a “big move,” few would be bigger than signing Tucker, who would provide an immediate boost to an already stacked Dodgers roster.
